Wired PR News.com – President Elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain met in Chicago on Monday, reportedly reaching an agreement to work together on issues pertaining to government and economic improvements. As reported by the Associated Press, the two put past rivalry aside and issued the joint statement saying “At this defining moment in history, we believe that Americans of all parties want and need their leaders to come together and change the bad habits of Washington so that we can solve the common and urgent challenges of our time.”
In the statement, Obama and McCain described their conversation as productive and further stated “We hope to work together in the days and months ahead on critical challenges like solving our financial crisis, creating a new energy economy, and protecting our nation’s security.”
The campaigns for both Republican candidate John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, were among the most controversial in the country’s history, with disagreements on both sides for how to handle the ongoing wars, health care, the housing crisis, and rebounding the troubled economy. However, things ended on a cordial note, with McCain championing support for the President Elect in his concession speech on the night of the Election.
