Jefferson County SUV wreck claims 4 teens-leaves passenger critically injured.
Syracuse, NY –CNYcentral, a Syracuse, New York based news service updated an ongoing investigation into a fiery SUV wreck on Saturday. The crash involved a teenage driver and four passengers in Jefferson County. Recent news reveals the fourth teenager, involved in the fatal one-vehicle SUV collision on Saturday night, died from his traumatic injuries. David Van Epps, an 18 year-old male passenger died at University Hospital.
Jefferson County police officials say the speeding SUV, owned by 23 year-old Tara Armer, who remains in critical condition at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, was driven by 17 year-old, Rebecca Besaw of Watertown, when the accident occurred. Besaw and passenger Susan Melgar, an 18 year-old from Felts Mills, were pronounced dead at the scene of the explosive SUV crash by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel on Satruday night.
Denise Yeman, the 14 year-old sister of Melgar, was transported by Jefferson County fire-rescue crews, to a Watertown hospital, where she unfortunately died of her critical injuries. New York State Troopers are citing speed as a factor in the SUV crash. Tara Armer was airlifted by an emergency medical helicopter to the hospital after her speeding SUV struck a utility pole, hit a tree, and burst into flames. Witnesses claim two teens were ejected from the SUV during the automobile accident. New York State Troopers continue to investigate the wreck.
