California Highway Patrol officer hit and dragged by Toyota pickup truck.

San Diego, CA(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A California Highway Patrol (CHP) motorcycle officer was injured in a motor vehicle collision (MVC) on Tuesday morning. A pickup truck hit and dragged the motorcycle officer on Interstate 15 in San Diego, California. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports two police officers parked their motorcycle and patrol car, on the median on Interstate 15, just south of Interstate 8 at about 8:55 a.m. CHP officials said the two police officers were investigating an earlier traffic wreck when a 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck entered the highway and swerved toward the median. The pickup truck skimmed the side of the unoccupied police car and hit motorcycle, launching it about 50 feet, before striking the motorcycle officer.

The CHP officer was trapped beneath the pickup and dragged until the truck stopped on the median. Police officials rescued the injured officer from under the vehicle. The freeway was closed for almost two hours after the pickup truck wreck. The injured officer, whose identity was not released, suffered scrapes and a bruised lung. The driver of the Toyota pickup, who authorities have identified as Brian Joseph Andrews of San Diego, suffered chest pains. The police officer and Andrews were transported by San Diego are emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Hospital authorities reported both injured men were in good condition.
