Denny’s sued over high sodium levels!

New Jersey personal injury lawyers alert the Center for Science in the Public Interest and a New Jersey man sued Denny’s in the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Newark, NJ—Denny’s Corporation, owners of the national restaurant chain, Denny’s, is being sued by the Center for Science in the Public Interest http://www.cspinet.org/ and by a New Jersey man. The lawsuit, which is seeking class-action status, was filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey on Thursday, July 23, 2009, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the lawsuit, several meals offered by Denny’s restaurants triple the recommended amount of a person’s daily sodium intake. For example, one of Denny’s popular breakfast items, the Meat Lovers Scramble has a reported 5,690 milligrams of sodium in just one meal. It is recommend by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) http://www.cdc.gov/ to intake no more than 1,500 milligrams of sodium a day. The Center for Science in the Public Interest claim they have attempted to work with the national restaurant chain to help in reducing the amount of sodium in their menu options before filing the lawsuit. A representative of Denny’s stated the lawsuit is “frivolous” and will fight the lawsuit in court.
