North Carolina construction accident lawyer alert- A construction accident at a wastewater treatment plant left a electrician seriously injured.
Raleigh, N.C.—A construction worker was severely injured on a construction site, while they were working on an electrical system. The construction worker was electrocuted on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Utley Wastewater Treatment Plant, as reported by The News and Observer.
An electrician employed by Via Electric Company in Garner, was doing subcontracted work at the Utley Wastewater Treatment Plant near N.C. 55. The unidentified worker was shocked and knocked unconscious when electricity from a 480-volt panel arched, and hit him in the head. The electrocuted worker reportedly stopped breathing and had no sign of a pulse. A worker employed by the town attempted to give the unconscious worker cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until emergency medical services (EMS) crews could arrive. When EMS personnel arrived at the scene, they took over treatment of the injured man. Paramedics were able to find a pulse and resume the man’s breathing. The victim was then transported by EMS crews to the Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Doctors and nursing treating the man stated he is in critical but stable condition. The seriously injured worker was then airlifted by helicopter to Chapel Hill for further treatment of his injuries.
