Missouri automobile accident attorneys alert- five car vehicle crash resulted in serious injuries on I-55.
St. Louis, MO—A five-car pileup left one woman dead and injured six others. The fatal multiple vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 on Interstate 55, as reported by St. Louis Today.
According to police reports, traffic along northbound I-55 began to slow, which caused a tractor-trailer to slam into the back of a Volkswagen driven by a 40-year-old unidentified man, and a passenger, Elizabeth Warren, 36. The Volkswagen then struck the rear-end of a Pontiac Grand Prix, which then catapulted into a Chevrolet Cobalt. The Chevy car then hit a Cadillac with such force it flipped the Cadillac over, and slid towards the shoulder of the highway. The semi-truck and the Volkswagen reportedly caught fire due to the crash. The 43-year-old driver of the big rig did not sustain any injures. Warren was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by responding emergency medical services (EMS) professionals. The driver of the Volkswagen suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital by EMS teams. The driver of the Pontiac, a 22-year-old woman, and 18-year-old female passenger, along with a 2-year-old girl and boy, all sustained injuries in the crash, and was transported by EMS crews to a local hospital for treatment. The Cobalt driver, a 65-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was also transported by EMS personnel to an area hospital. No one inside the Cadillac reported any injuries, which was transporting two men, 56 and 34, and a 60-year-old female passenger. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the five-car pileup.
