Hershey, Pa - A private boarding school has agreed to allow an HIV positive student to attend classes there after initially denying him admission. As reported by ABC News, the Milton Hershey School sent a private letter to the teen, who filed a lawsuit against them for violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and his mother last month offering him a spot for the fall.
Anthony Colistra, president of the school is quoted in the report as stating of the change, “Milton Hershey School will no longer refuse admission to otherwise qualified students who have HIV.”
Ronda Goldfein, an attorney representing the teen in the matter, is further quoted as stating of the offer, “We’re certainly delighted that the school understands their obligations under the law and intends to follow them…This case is not settled.
