Los Angeles, CA—Over 3,000 pounds of fresh ground beef patties and other packages of ground beef products were recalled over concerns of E. coli bacteria contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said it is unknown if anyone had been sickened from the recalled beef products, reported CNN.

American Food Service of Pico Rivera recalled the ground beef products, which were produced on January 31, according to a USDA press release.

The contamination threat was found after USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service received information from another federally regulated establishment, who believed the product may be contaminated with E. coli bacterium.

The recalled food products have an establishment number of “EST. 1913” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were distributed throughout Southern California.

Exposure to E. Coli can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and in severe cases, kidney failure. Those with weakened immune systems, babies and seniors are the most susceptible to E. coli infections.
