Jacksonville business owner sued for violating Florida’s Deceptive Unfair Trade Act.

Jacksonville, FL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Florida Attorney General’s Office filed a lawsuit in court on Thursday, April 9, 2009 against Showbiz Promotions and its Jacksonville based owner Jaime Salcedo. The court documents reveal the claim alleges Salcedo and his company Showbiz Promotions violated Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, as reported by CNN.

According to allegations made by lawyers for the state of Florida, the suit states Salcedo was profiting off the murder of Florida toddler, Caylee Anthony, with a doll his company made called “Caylee Sunshine” and after dog chew toys in the likeness of convicted NFL star Michael Vick. The suspended professional football player is currently serving time in a federal prison for his participation in a dog fighting operation. Apparently, Salcedo promised consumers on his www.cayleedoll.com website that 100% of the profits from the sales of the doll would be donated to various charitable organizations.

Investigators for the state of Florida, in conjunction with lawyers for the Attorney General’s Office, received consumer complaints regarding unfilled product orders, deceptive marketing practices, and their distaste of the profiting from the horrific murder of a child. The National Center for Exploited and Missing Children (NCMEC) www.missingkids.com confirmed they have not received donations from Showbiz Promotions.
