President Obama and DOT announce $8 billion investment for passenger train.
Atlanta, GA(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–As reported by Atlanta Business Chronicle, President Obama and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) www.dot.gov will allocate $8 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as a down payment for a high-speed passenger railway system. Georgia is one of the states benefitting from the 10 total high-speed rail corridors sponsored and largely funded by the federal government.
The only existing high speed passenger rail route in the country is the Northeast Corridor servicing consumers from Washington to Boston. The federal program suggests rail lines in California, Pacific Northwest, Chicago Hub Network, Florida, Southeast, Keystone, Empire and Northern New England. President Obama and his administration assert the high-speed rail road transportation will create thousands of construction jobs over several years. The new railroad will provide permanent jobs for railroad employees and supervisors plus increase economic activity through consumer spending in locations these trains serve.
