Hobart, WA — Two racing cars caused a multiple-vehicle crash on Highway 18, leaving one person dead and four others injured on Saturday, April 23, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m., near West Tiger Mountain just east of Issaquah-Hobart Road SE, reported 9News.

According to officials, two recklessly driven vehicles, a red 1994 Ford Probe and a green 1992 Toyota Celica, were headed west on the highway when the driver of the Celica tried to pass traffic on the right shoulder. The Celica lost control and swerved across all lanes of the traffic, before it slammed head-on into an oncoming red Honda Pilot that was traveling in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Ford, Frank J. Willing, 39 of Tacoma also lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn onto the shoulder where it came to a stop on its roof.

The driver of the Celica, Mine Her, 26, of Pullman was rushed by responding emergency crews to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Trung D. Ngo, 36, of Covington, the driver of the Honda, and a passenger, a 37-year-old Covington woman, were also taken to Harborview for treatment of serious injuries. Ngo was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m.

Willing was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment of less serious injuries. Willing’s 10-year-old son, who was a passenger in his vehicle, was also taken to Valley Medical for treatment of injuries.

Willing and Her are being investigated for vehicular assault and vehicular homicide.
