Bainbridge, OH — A school bus and vehicle collision on U.S. 50 killed a Bainbridge man and injured at least 12 students Wednesday afternoon, October 5, 2011. The school bus crash occurred on U.S. 50, just east of Paint Valle High School, reported the Chillicothe Gazette.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office reported that Bus 13 had just left Paint Valley High School and was traveling east on U.S. 50 when the bus collided with a vehicle. Details surrounding the wreck and how it occurred have yet to be released.
The bus was transporting 38 students at the time, leaving at least 12 students injured.
The driver of the car, James S. Hill, 39, of Bainbridge, did not survive the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding emergency crews transported 11 students to Adena Medical Center, while another was taken to Greenfield Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. Officials stated that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
The 26 remaining students were transported back to the high school where they were examined by medical professionals and released to their parents.
Investigations into the crash are underway.
