11/04/2011 // WPB, FL, USA // Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Kennesaw, GA — A workplace accident at Vulcan Materials’ quarry in Kennesaw left a worker critically injured Wednesday morning, November 2, 2011. The fatal workplace accident occurred at 1272 Duncan Road, near McCollum Field at around 11 a.m., reported the Marietta Daily Journal.

According to reports, a Vulcan welder was doing repair work while using a bucket truck to lift material, when he sustained an electrical shock as the bucket truck’s boom hit a 4,160-volt power line.

Responding emergency crews rushed to the scene to transport one worker to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was then transferred to the Augusta burn center. His injuries are reportedly not considered life-threatening.

A second man, who was working with the injured worker, was not injured in the accident.

The identities of the workers are being withheld at this time.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Vulcan and Georgia Power, which operated the power lines, are investigating the work-related accident.
