Bridgeport, CT — A Bridgeport Superior Court jury awarded a 23-year-old man $10 million on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, after he sustained a brain injury in a Segway accident, reports Boston.com.
The jury awarded the multi-million dollar judgment after determining that the New Hampshire-based Segway Inc. and two employees were responsible for John Ezzo’s brain injury.
Ezzo sustained the brain injury during a company demonstration in September 2009, of its two-wheeled vehicle at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.
Ezzo was reportedly blindfolded and without a helmet while riding the Segway through an obstacle course created by company workers. While completing the course Ezzo fell and injured his head.
Due to his injuries, Ezzo claims he had to drop out of the university and become a handyman.
Segway has yet to comment on the verdict.
