Southwest Airlines passenger jet makes emergency West Virginia landing.

Baltimore, MD–Southwest Airlines Flight 2294 en route from Nashville, Tennessee to Baltimore, Maryland made an emergency landing at Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia at 6:07 p.m. on Monday. According to aviation officials, the Boeing 737 commercial jet was carrying 126 passengers and flying at about 30,000 feet when a football-sized hole in the fuselage depressurized the cabin. The airplane crew of 5 responded to the loss of cabin pressure and drop of passenger oxygen masks by enacting and emergency landing procedures of the big Boeing jet.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) http://www.ntsb.gov are investigating how a hole, near the top of the aircraft, in the middle of the passenger cabin of the Southwest jet developed. Federal aviation inspectors will continue to inspect the damaged fuselage in their investigation. No reports of passenger or crew injuries and Charleston airport officials tended to the passengers while they waited for a Southwest replacement plane to fly passengers to their final destination of Baltimore. Dallas, Texas based, Southwest Airlines is considered the largest airline in the world based on number of passengers carried annually. According to Wikipedia http://www.wikipedia.org, Southwest Airlines, operates about 3,500 flights daily and maintains the second-largest passenger fleet of aircraft among the world’s commercial airlines.
