Alabama State Route 69 semi-truck wreck kills driver and seriously injures passenger.
Huntsville, AL–A three-vehicle wreck on Friday, July 11, 2009, killed one man and injured one woman. The fatal accident reportedly happened at 3:30 p.m. on Alabama State Route 69, which caused the highway to shut down for four hours, as reported by The Arab Tribune.
According to the Arab police, an 18-wheeler driven by Donald J. McDaniel, of Campbell who is employed by W.M. Burnett Trucking Co. of Haleyville, experienced a tire blowout. The blowout caused the big rig to loose control and clip a Ford Ranger pickup truck, causing the small truck to flip and land on its side. The driver of the Ranger was identified as Cynthia Davin, 52, of Cullman County. After the tractor-trailer clipped the truck it smashed into a Ford Taurus head-on and pushed the car over 100 feet from the point of impact. The driver of the Taurus, Brian A. Mann, 32, of Cullman Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the multi-vehicle accident. According to witness of the fatal accident, Mann desperately tried to avoid hitting the 18-wheeler. Tow trucks had to be called in to remove the big rig from on top of the car to retrieve the deceased man. Darvin, the driver of the Ranger, was reportedly transported by Arab ambulance crews to the Marshall Medical Center North for treatment of her injuries sustained the crash.
Emergency response teams from the AFR, Arab Rescue Squad, Air Evac Lifeteam, Joppa and Brindlee Mountain Volunteer fire departments; Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, and Arab Police all responded to the fatal three-car collision.
