Reno, Nevada – Additional lawsuits have been filed on behalf of victims injured in an Amtrak-truck crash last year. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), four new lawsuits allege that a defective railroad crossing warning signal attributed to the accident, which injured approximately 100 people, killing four.
Jay Sullivan, an attorney who filed the four new lawsuits, is quoted by the AP as stating of truck driver Lawrence Valli of John Davis Trucking Co., one of the accident victims, “There’s credible evidence that the gates came down late or not at all…A late deployment of the crossing gate would help explain why Mr. Valli drove his truck into the train.”
As noted in the report, the additional four claims bring the total of the number of lawsuits filed in connection with the accident to 15.
