Houston, TX—A Greyhound bus crash left six passengers injured after the driver hit a concrete barrier. The bus crash happened Wednesday, September 2, 2009 around 6:00 p.m. on the North Freeway HOV lane near Shepard, as reported by KTRK.
According to police officials, a Greyhound bus carrying 24 passengers had just left the bus terminal and was traveling on the North Freeway when the bus driver became confused. The confused driver then headed south in the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane, and attempted to exit the freeway at Shepard. The driver reportedly was traveling too fast when he tried to exit the freeway, and lost control on the HOV exit ramp, and hit a concrete barrier. Passengers on the bus reported they felt like the bus was going to rollover or fall off the side of the bridge. Six Greyhound passengers were transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained in the wreck. Police officials gave the bus driver a traffic citation in connection with the crash.
