New Delhi – Two women were reportedly arrested in Mumbai for the “liking” of a comment posted on Facebook. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Indian media say the arrests were made after the women “liked” a post related to the funeral of Hindu fundamentalist politician, rightwing leader Bal Thackeray, leading to the shutdown of shops and transportation.
Over a reported 1.5 million people were in attendance at Thackeray’s funeral, which led to the closing of various shops and offices. The women’s Facebook criticism purportedly angered some supporters of Thackeray.
The women were reportedly released on bail Monday.
