Los Angeles – A trial concerning custody arrangements for “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter began this week. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the trial was set to begin on Wednesday following accusations that Ariel’s mother emotionally and physically abused her.
A judge temporarily removed Ariel, 14, from the custody of her mother, Chrisoula “Chrystal” Workman, in October due to the abuse claims. Workman denies the claims, and states her other daughter, Shanelle Gray, who filed for emergency guardianship, and with whom Ariel is currently staying, isn’t a suitable guardian.
The trial is expected to continue into the new year.
Ariel plays Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC sitcom.
