Washington – A recent poll suggests that a majority of adults believe that income tax cheating is never ok. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), 95 percent of respondents cited personal integrity as a factor in persuading them to report honestly with regards to their taxes.

The Internal Revenue Service Oversight Board sponsored telephone poll data was taken from 1,500 adults who were randomly chosen to participate.

Board Chairman Paul Cherecwich Jr. is quoted by the AP as stating of American taxpayers, “Personal integrity is at the core of our self-assessment tax system… The overwhelming majority of American taxpayers play by the rules and expect everyone else to do the same.”
