Legal news for Utah SUV accident attorneys. A violent two-vehicle crash left a man with a fence pole impaled through his leg.

Salt Lake City SUV accident attorneys alerts- A SUV rollover crash left Chris Bullock with a fence post impaled in his leg.

Salt Lake City, UT—A violent two-vehicle wreck left a man with a fence rail impaled in his leg, which pinned him to the seat of his upside down sport utility vehicle (SUV). The crash happened on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 around 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Zenith Avenue and Richmond Street, as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.

According to police officials, Chris Bullock, 19, was traveling southbound on Richmond Street in his SUV when he entered the intersection of Zenith Avenue and was struck by another motorist. The impact rolled Bullock’s SUV onto its roof, into a chain link fence and into a tree. During the rollover, a 2-inch-wide fence pole penetrated the roof of the SUV and impaled Bullock’s thigh. The pole went all the way through Bullocks leg and pinned him to the seat of the upside-down vehicle.

Responding rescue crews cut the excessive pole, and seat belt so they could remove Bullock from the badly damaged SUV. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel dispatched a helicopter to transport Bullock to the hospital but was turned away because the foot and half of the metal pole that was impaled through his leg could not fit into the helicopter. Instead, the helicopter followed a EMS ground ambulance to the hospital. Coincidentally, the pole that impalled Bullock actually saved his life. The pole ruptured his femoral artery, which is a large artery in the muscles of the thigh. If the pole wasn’t stuck in his leg, he would have bled to death. It is unknown if the other driver involved in crash was injured. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle crash.
