Albany, New York – Former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine has dropped a lawsuit against ESPN. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Fine’s attorneys stated Tuesday that he would be dropping the defamation lawsuit against the network that had been filed over broadcasts that included claims by two former ball boys that he had molested them several years ago.
Fine, 67, was fired following the two broadcasts were aired in 2011. He was never charged following an investigation by federal prosecutors and has maintained his innocence.
William Albert, spokesman for the Harris Beach law firm, is quoted by the AP as stating, “Mr. Fine desires to finally put all of the turmoil of the past year and a half behind him, so that he may concentrate on his future as well as the future of his family.”
