New York – Starting next year, Electronic Arts Inc. will no longer be allowed use of the NCAA name or logo on video games. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the announcement about the association’s end of a lucrative business deal with the large gaming corporation comes amid a major legal battle over the use of the likenesses of former players.
Andrew Wilson, executive vice president of EA, is quoted by the AP as stating, “EA Sports will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks.
“Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Co. is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, conferences and all the innovation fans expect from EA Sports.”
