London – The mother of a baby who was mauled to death by a pit bull terrier has been released on bail along with her partner. As reported by AFP, the couple Chloe King, 20, and Lee Wright, 26 were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the attack, which occurred Monday night.
The eleven-month-old baby Ava-Jayne was asleep in her bed when the attack took place. She was pronounced dead after being taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The Lancashire Police is quoted as releasing the statement after bail was granted for the child’s mother, “The two people arrested in connection with the death of Ava-Jayne Corless at Blackburn have both been released on bail pending further inquiries.”
Police are investigating to see whether there were prior issues with the animal. The dog was put down following the attack.
