Ohio – A reported $800,000 in funding has been approved by a state panel in Ohio to combat Ebola. As reported by The Columbus Dispatch, the money has been approved to allow the Ohio Department of Health to assist hospitals in dealing with current related issues or future cases of the disease.
As noted in the report, the vote by the oversight panel came as a request was made by the congressional delegation in Ohio that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention increase support to the state after a Texas nurse diagnosed with Ebola flew to Ohio.
Rep. Jeff McClain, R-Upper Sandusky, who is a member of the Controlling Board, is quoted in the report as stating of the efforts made by the state, “God willing we don’t have a disaster that nobody can handle…I think the governor has done much better than the feds have. He’s been much more proactive.”
