New York – Dr. Dre, rapper and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment, saw the largest payout of any musician in 2014. As reported by WebProNews, Dre earned an estimated $620 million this year largely through the sale of his headphone line Beats Electronics purchased by Apple Inc. for approximately $3 billion.
Dr. Dre, whose birth name is Andre Romelle Young, cofounded Beats Electronics in 2006 with the CEO of Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records, Jimmy Iovine. The musician posted a YouTube video following the sale of the company in May, stating he was the first person in Hip Hop to become a billionaire.
Others to top the list of the highest paid musicians of 2014 are Beyonce, who came in second place after earning $115 million, and The Eagles, ranking third at $100 million.
