Florida auto accident lawyer alerts- Driver found by girlfriend after highway patrol trooper failed to notice body.

Oakland Park, FL—Reports of an abandoned car on Interstate 95 prompted a Florida Highway Patrol trooper to be dispatched to the scene. After investigating the damaged vehicle, he had the car towed and left the scene, failing to notice that the body of the car’s driver was actually located in a ditch off the side of the highway. The motor vehicle accident reportedly occurred Monday, January 18, 2010, according to information provided by the Sun-Sentinel.

Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol allegedly reported that the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, 29-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident Delvin Lewis, was driving on the southbound exit ramp to Oakland Park Boulevard when he seemingly hit the guardrail. On impact, he was ejected from the vehicle, landing in the ditch. The Chevrolet reportedly came to a rest in a grassy area on the side of I-95.

Since the vehicle he was traveling in allegedly belonged to Lewis’ girlfriend, a wrecker company subsequently contacted her, regarding the towed vehicle. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed by officials, was apparently unaware that her vehicle had been involved in a crash or that her boyfriend was missing. She allegedly found her boyfriend’s body on Tuesday night, a day after the incident, when she went to check out the crash scene for herself. Authorities are unaware of why or when the fatal wreck occurred.
