Phoenix, AZ—More deaths have been reported in connection with the fatal helicopter crash near Phoenix, which originally was thought to have resulted in only three deaths. After extensive investigations at the crash site it has been determined that a total of five people died during the fatal Valentine’s Day helicopter crash, as reported by MSNBC and Justice News Flash.
As previously reported, a private 6-seater Eurocopter EC135 was reportedly making popping sounds before it nose-dived in a rural desert wash and bursted into flames. The chopper was reportedly headed to Scottsdale, Arizona from the Flagstaff area when the crash occurred. It is believed that a mechanical failure is the likely caused of the crash. The helicopter’s rotors were reportedly discovered over a half-mile from where the wreckage was lying.
Officials have since determined that there were actually five victims rather than three, which was previously reported. Thomas J. Stewart, 64, owner and founder of Services Group of America, was killed in the wreck. The other four victims identities have not been released, but Arizona state Senator Jonathon Paton eulogized Thomas, his wife Madena, and their 5-year-old daughter on Monday while on the Senate floor.
