Arkansas train accident lawyer alerts- boy struck in fatal Amtrak train accident.

Hope, AR (News)—Authorities believe a teen was tragically killed after disregarding an oncoming Amtrak train in an attempt to quickly cross the tracks and get home on Wednesday night, February 17, 2010. The teenage boy unfortunately could not cross in enough time and was subsequently struck by the Chicago-bound locomotive, according to information provided by HopeStar.com.

Deputies from the Hope Police Department were dispatched to the scene of the pedestrian-involved train accident at 9:37 p.m., along with the Hempstead County Deputy Coroner who allegedly pronounced the 17-year-old victim, identified as Jerry Lollis, dead at 10:05 p.m. Reports state the Texas Eagle Train 22 was traveling en route from San Antonio, Texas, and was coming through the Generator Street and U.S. Highway 67 railroad crossing when the incident occurred. It was stated that the boy’s mother was expecting him at home, which may have prompted him to try and “beat the train”, so to speak.

Information and surveillance collected through the onboard event recorder and camera may be requested as a means of completing accident investigations. The Amtrak Media Relations Manager reportedly stated, “Routinely, we talk to our train crews about what happened. There is no indication that there was anything other than what it looks like, that someone disregarded the warning at the crossing and from the train itself”, in regards to the cause of the incident. Investigations are underway.
