Legal news for Pennsylvania automobile accident attorneys – A tanker truck collides into a Honda Civic, sending passengers to hospital and killing one.

A five year old and two adults were injured after being rear-ended by a tanker.

Covington, PA (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A wreck between a Honda Civic and a tanker truck on Saturday March, 2010, proved lethal for 74-year-old Mildred L. Barnard and sent two others to nearby hospitals, as reported by Star Gazette. The 2000 International tanker truck struck the Honda in the northbound lane of Route 2005.

The accident, which occurred around 1:25 p.m. at the state Routes 2005 and 2022 intersection in Covington, PA, sent the Honda forward about 100 feet after the two vehicles collided. The Honda had been waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn, according to state police.

Barnard, a passenger in the front seat of the Honda, was pronounced dead at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. The driver Diane M. McKinley, 51, of Renovo PA, was injured and taken to Soldiers and Sailors for treatment as well. A five-year-old boy in the back seat of the car was flown by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. All four individuals involved in the crash were wearing seat belts. The extent of injuries for both driver and child are unknown.

The intersection was closed for several hours after the incident, as reported through a Pennsylvania DOT press release. The crash is being reconstructed by a state police accident reconstructionist.
