News for Alabama truck accident attorneys- A motor vehicle collision near Mount Vernon, AL caused three people to suffer fatal injuries.
Mount Vernon, AL—A two-vehicle wreck involving a pickup truck resulted in three fatalities and left one passenger critically injured on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. The deadly motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred on U.S. Route 43 near Mount Vernon, Alabama, according to information provided by AL.com.
Alabama Highway Patrol (AHP) authorities reported 19-year-old Chase Alan Stevens was traveling southbound on U.S. 43 in a Honda Accord when his vehicle veered out of his lane for unknown reasons. Upon doing so, the Accord hit a concrete culvert in the median, launching it through the air. The car was hurled into the northbound lanes of the highway and consequently smashed into a northbound F150 pickup truck, driven by 35-year-old motorist Michael Cummings Vice.
Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene of the accident to transport surviving victims to area hospitals for treatment. Unfortunately, Stevens and Vice suffered severe injuries which proved fatal at the scene. A passenger riding in the Accord at the time, identified as 19-year-old Justin Blake Averette, also suffered fatal injuries in the pickup truck-involved wreck. A passenger who had been riding in the pickup truck at the time, identified as 25-year-old Benjamin Hugener, suffered critical injuries and was transported to University of South Alabama Medical Center via ambulance to be treated by doctors and nurses.
Reports noted that all victims involved in the wreck worked at the ThyssenKrupp Steel USA facility and were seemingly on their way to or from their place of employment at the time. State troopers were not immediately sure whether the crash victims had been wearing their seatbelts at the time. A full investigation was expected to be underway.
