April 20, 2010 – Experts in earth sciences predict that the Iceland volcano is emitting between 150,000 and 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide per day, according to Agence France-Presse.
If that number is on the high end of the scale, the volcano is throwing more CO2 into the atmosphere than such small countries as Ireland and Switzerland, according to World Resources Institute figures.
