May 13, 2010 — Concerns about romaine lettuce have widened with reports that an outbreak of E. coli has spread to Tennessee. The Tennessee warning came after a person was sickened after eating romaine grown in Arizona.
To date there are 23 confirmed E. coli cases and 7 probables, up from 19 a week earlier, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Other cases have been reported in Michigan, Ohio and New York. The tainted lettuce has been traced to a farm in Yuma, Az.
