Greeley, CO—A collision involving a Toyota Corolla and a school bus sent a 64-year-old woman to the hospital on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m., at the intersection of Weld County Road 32 and Weld County Road 7, as reported by The Denver Post.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Department reported that the St. Vrain School District RE1-J School District bus was stopped at a stop sign at westbound County Road 32. The school bus then began to pull into the intersection, directly into the path of a 1996 Toyota Corolla, which was traveling southbound on County Road 7.
The collision injured the unidentified driver of the Corolla. She was transported to a hospital in Longmont for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The school bus was transporting 19 students at the time, none of which were injured. The students were checked by paramedics, who determine that they were not injured.
Firefighters from the Mountainview Fire Department reportedly had to cut the woman from her wrecked car following the wreck.
Officials believe that the bus driver may be at fault for the crash because the woman did not have a stop sign on County Road 7 and had the right of way.
An investigation into the wreck is still on going.
