West Palm Beach, FL—A toddler was run over by her mother’s sport utility vehicle outside a Westgate residence Sunday, June 6, 2010. The mother was allegedly attempting to move her SUV in front of a home when the tragic accident occurred, according to information provided by the Palm Beach Post.

Reports indicated there were severe thunderstorms passing through the area when Matilda Bravo went outside to move her SUV for unknown reasons. The 34-year-old mother allegedly hopped into her vehicle at approximately 8:20 p.m. when the unthinkable occurred.

As Bravo began to move her SUV, her young daughter reportedly ran into the path of the vehicle. The tot, identified as Miranda, was consequently struck and run over. The accident scene was located outside of a home in the 900 block of Dogwood Road in the Westgate neighborhood.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene to rush the girl to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Though she was initially taken to the hospital in responsive but critical condition, her traumatic injuries eventually proved fatal.

The fatal SUV accident remains under investigation by the traffic homicide division of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
