Cincinnati, OH—The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G), in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), voluntarily recalled VapoSpray 4-Hour Decongestant Nasal Spray by Sinex after it was discovered that the product formulation might not meet the affixed expiration dates. The FDA announced the product safety recall on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Proctor & Gamble’s VapoSpray 4-Hour Decongestant Nasal Spray by Sinex was sold throughout the United States and recalled as a precautionary measure. P&G is currently working towards removing all affected products from store shelves as a means of protecting consumers from unspecified adverse events.

According to the FDA, “The product name is: VapoSpray 4 Hour Nasal Spray by Sinex with a UPC code of 3 23900 00082 7. Prior to June 2009, this product was also sold as Sinex Nasal Spray in both a spray (UPC Code 3 23900 00082 7) and Ultra Fine Mist package (UPC Code 3 23900 00085 8).”

Consumers who purchased nasal spray marked with an expiration date prior to June 2013 are advised to discard the product. Individuals with questions or those seeking a reimbursement or replacement coupon may contact P&G toll-free at (877) 340-8853 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. US ET or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. US ET.

The FDA advises all consumers who have experienced an adverse reaction or quality issue with this product or any other medication to inform the FDA’s MedWatch Program via fax at (800) FDA-0178. Consumers can also notify the MedWatch Program by mail at MedWatch, HF-2, FDA, Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD, 20852-9787, or online at www.fda.gov/medwatch.
