Oct. 19, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ Challenging Moscow’s claims that stability has been brought to Chechnya, gunmen burst into the restive region’s parliament on Tuesday morning during a visit by Russia’s federal interior minister.
Several people were killed in a shootout that took place close to the office of the Chechen Parliament’s speaker, Dujuvakha Adurakhmanov.
While reports claim the attackers have been killed and all the legislators have escaped unharmed, according to other sources the gunmen have begun taking hostages and attacked the Agriculture Ministry, too.
