HOUSTON, TX – Nov. 24, 2008 — The Pine Forest Country Club raised $6,500 at its inaugural Fall Festival on Oct. 25 to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Texas Gulf Coast Louisiana grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The club set the goal of raising enough money to grant one local child’s wish. The average cost of a wish for the local chapter is $5,000. The club’s success will fund 11-year-old Kevin’s wish to visit Walt Disney World(R) Resort. The donations will cover the cost of the trip and related expenses for Kevin, who was diagnosed with bone cancer, and his family. Unused funds will help fund other children’s wishes.
Pine Forest Country Club members enjoyed a fun-filled day of carnival rides, games, crafts, a fit walk along the beautiful golf course and delicious food from Kevin Palm, the club’s award-winning executive chef. Members also took shots at drenching their favorite board or staff member in the dunking booth. The night ended with an outdoor movie and lots of popcorn.
“Caring people in the community make it possible for us to give kids like Kevin the joy of a wish experience,” said Teri Andrepont, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast Louisiana. “Thanks to Pine Forest Country Club, Kevin and his family will enjoy some valuable time together free from the worries of dealing with his illness.”
