Lake Highlands 3 alarm fire damages 8 apartment units, residents lose everything. Dallas injury attorney-Witherite-educates fire escape plan safety.

Dallas, TX (AmericanInjuryNews.com)–The Dallas Morning News reported Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a 3-alarm fire this morning at the Sonora Palms apartment community this morning. Dallas Fire Department officials remain investigating the fire at the Lake Highlands apartment community located in the 8800 block of Fair Oaks Crossing. There are no reported injuries to dozens of residents and their children; however the damages were catastrophic.

Apparently the fire began after midnight early Monday morning and damaged 8 units in total. The damages left the residents, of the 8 units, homeless and at a complete loss of all personal effects and belongings. The heat from the fire also damaged two cars and a truck. The apartment community managers are attempting to place residents in nearby properties.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) www.nfpa.org, the world’s leading advocate of fire prevention and public safety, says all U.S. households should have an escape plan in the event of a fire. NFPA suggests the following safety tips

-Draw a home escape plan.
-Discuss the escape plan with everyone in your household.
-Practice the fire escape plan during the night and the day
-Practice your fire escape plan with everyone in your home twice a year.
-Know at least two ways out of every room, if possible.
-Make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily.

Fires cause severe damages and serious injuries, including deaths, to thousands of homeowners and residents every year in Texas. The damage from smoke can leave residents without furniture, clothing and linens. Consulting a legal professional to help you recover your damages from responsible parties, including receiving the appropriate funds from insurance company policies, may help you and your family.
