West Palm Beach medical malpractice attorneys News — HHS alert claims 3,000 U.S. Pregnancies result in neural tube defects every year.

West Palm Beach, FL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) www.hhs.gov released, on Friday, information about birth defects affecting the baby’s brain and spine caused by neural tube defects. According to the press release, every year, in the United States, about 3,000 pregnancies are affected by neural tube defects. Since half of all pregnancies in America are unplanned and unexpected it is essential the mother begin a vitamin plan immediately.

Neural tube defects damage the baby’s brain and spine and can be largely prevented by pregnant mother’s when they receive the proper medical care. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) www.cdc.gov asserts pregnant women, who consume 400 micrograms of folic acid, a vitamin, every day throughout their pregnancy, especially in the first few months and last few months, will significantly decrease the risk of neural tube defects.
Women receive folic acid by eating fortified foods such as breads and cereals or taking the vitamin supplement.

Expectant women, who receive prenatal care by a qualified doctor specializing in obstetrics known as an obstetrician, increase their chances of maintaining a healthy pregnancy and delivering a well developed child.
