Help Is On the Way
In response to the widespread economic crisis, prominent South Florida attorney, Richard J. Burton, will announce the launch of “The Foreclosure Project on Thursday, February 26th. He will give the details of the “Project” at a press conference to be held at 2PM EST on the steps of the Miami-Dade Courthouse, 73 West Flagler, Miami.
“The Foreclosure Project”, a novel and bold response to a major crisis, will represent, pro bono, yes, for FREE, homeowners in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties facing foreclosure. It will help homeowners who either bought a home or refinanced their existing residence with a lending institution after 2001 and are now facing foreclosure.
Last year in Miami-Dade alone there were 60,000 foreclosure actions and 1,500 more are filed each week. These are families that are in danger of losing their homes. The consequences of this tsunami of foreclosures are catastrophic; not just for the homeowners about lose their home but for our entire community.
To put a stop to the flood of foreclosures Mr. Burton is organizing a group of attorneys who will donate their time to “The Foreclosure Project” and work to put a halt to the foreclosure process. This program is designed to help individuals stay in their homes and avoid being foreclosed and thrown out into the street.
To avail themselves of this FREE service homeowners need only to go to the “Project’s” web site: www.theforeclosureproject.org and fill in a very simple form. The “Project” will take it from there.
Mr. Burton stated: “everyone is talking about this terrible problem but no one is doing anything meaningful. I decided to take action and launch “The Foreclosure Project”. I urge lawyers throughout US to act now and volunteer their efforts to halt the increasing wave of foreclosures. This is a most worthwhile and necessary effort. This is a crisis which must not be ignored.”
