Palm Beach County driver arrested and charged with DUI vehicular manslaughter.

West Palm Beach, FL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Michelle Ammirato, 48, of Boynton Beach was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) manslaughter, and vehicular homicide by Boynton Beach police officers. As reported by the Palm Beach Post, on September 17, 2008, Ammirato was driving on South Federal Highway, at a high rate of speed, when she struck and killed 87 year-old, Priscilla Servant. Boynton Beach Police Department officers claim Servant was a pedestrian crossing South Federal Highway at the 2600 Block when Ammirato hit and killed her.

Ammirato drove her Kia away from the scene of the fatal automobile accident and told police she was aware she had hit someone. The reckless driver said traffic was too heavy for her to stop when the tragedy occurred.  A blood test authorities from Boynton Beach performed on Ammirato showed tested positive for cocaine. Ammirato was driving her motor vehicle 21 mph over the posted speed limit of 35 mph on Federal Highway and was also driving with a suspended license. Records showed since 2001, Ammirato was cited 6 times for speeding violations resulting in her driver’s license suspension 5 times. Authorities arrested Michelle Ammirato at 9 a.m., April 13, 2009 at her home on Southeast 28th circle.
