Call to Arms by Connecticut Couple to All Americans That Want to Take Back the United States from the Hands of Corporate and Congressional Elitists.
Monday, April 13, 2009
Honorable U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro
59 Elm Street
New Haven, Ct. 06510
Dear Representative DeLauro,
I am writing to you regarding a letter that my wife and I received yesterday from G.E. Money Bank that states that they are closing our account for the reason of something that they didn’t like on our credit report.
In recent months, I’ve watched numerous hearings on Capitol Hill with the credit card companies and mortgage companies that universal default was frowned upon and therefore many companies vowed never to use it as a reason to punish card holders. This seems to have been a false promise, as usual, and it is now putting all credit card holders in danger of having their other credit cards closed also. It appears evident that the hearings were just window dressing as Congress is allowing it to continue without regulation and no relief will come until the new law kicks in on July 1, 2010, when it should have been enacted immediately.
We do have one thing on our credit report, which has been there for over a year now as we work out our situation with Countrywide Home Loans/Bank of America and it appears that with the help of a refined young lady at Countrywide that perhaps that problem is solved or close to it.
In most cases, other card holders do not have anything on their credit report but their accounts are closed also due to inactivity. What happened to rewards for responsible Americans paying down credit card balances, not closing them, but making them more manageable. It doesn’t work as the credit card companies want you in high debt so they can garner all the high interest charges.
It is becoming more and more apparent that the normal way to do business in Washington, by most, not all, is to make sure one hand washes the other, while the lives of average Americans becomes soiled with hardship, depression and eventually being kicked to the curb, either disgraced or homeless as a result of the indifference in Washington D.C. for the same people that elected the politicians in the first place.
Our account that has been closed is with G.E. Money Bank and it was opened last summer, when our pet, Tommy, a retired greyhound fell ill and was thankfully saved by the doctor at the Central Animal Hospital in New Haven, Ct. The cost was about $1,600.00, which we’ve made payments on faithfully since then and even sent more than was required as we’ve done with all of the other 3 credit cards, which are with Capital One, Chase, which was Washington Mutual and Providian before that, just to illustrate how long we’ve had that one and finally Pay Pal, which I use in a business venture to accept payments from customers, etc. The latter is also a G.E. Money Bank card and I guess that I should expect that one to fall prey to the corporate vultures that have no feelings or understanding at all about what people are going through as they just look at numbers and not how you are paying the card payments every month ON TIME.
It is my hope that you will be able to help and get this resolved, but nevertheless, I am issuing this letter in a press release on Monday, with the help of a criminal attorney that agrees with me that the credit card companies have gone too far and have to be sued by citizens for the treatment that they are receiving, while Congress fiddles as the United States burns and decays right before our eyes.
With this letter, I, George Mandell, do hereby authorize you, Rosa DeLauro, to be an agent on our behalf to secure any and all information regarding this and if the mortgage and our new score is the only basis for the closing of the account then that shows me and it will be made evident to other card holders after I get through that things have to change in the credit card world and in Washington or all will be lost for sure.
Litigation is the only avenue now and we are up for it along with many others that I am constantly in touch with everyday and the numbers are growing as it’s quite evident that people are stressed to the maximum and it even shows with the recent shootings. Yes, some people dismiss the these individuals that are just isolated crazy people that do this but this country and it’s government are getting so bad that people no longer have anyone to turn to that they can trust or to even get a simple answer. My wife and I are putting our trust in you and hopefully, this will be resolved to prevent the domino effect on our other 3 cards. We also hope that you will petition other members of Congress to go to bat for their constituents and turn this trend around.
Fairness in campaign contributions should be that the American citizens should have to be required to donate $5.00 for each person listed on the tax form rather than take influential amounts from corporations and all their employees, who have been informed to do so, thereby giving unfair advantage to one class over the other.
Representative DeLauro, my wife and I sincerely hope you will get the job done and also bring this to the attention of Mr. Barney Frank in Washington and the other members of the House Financial Committee to stop these practices now, not next year, so that other Americans do not have to be faced with these problems. This will eliminate a lot of good citizens becoming so-called crazies that kill people. This country is following a course that simply creates and inspires them to kill by inflicting hardships that are often too much to endure any longer and that’s totally out of order.
The telephone number to the President and CEO of G.E. Money Bank is (203) 840-6441 and his name is William H. Cary. If there are any citizens that wish to complain about similar experiences with G.E. Credit, you can also visit them at: 3135 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield, Ct. 06828 rather than just calling them. We also urge Americans who have considered G.E. Money Bank credit cards to dismiss that notion right away. The decision, however, is yours entirely.
Wake up America and fight back hard and don’t relent or we will lose. Call for a total investigation of Congressional Practices and Elizabeth Warren, who is the Chairman of the Congressional Oversight Committee would be an excellent candidate as she would be unbiased and thorough. Often, however, Congress will police themselves and this is actually ridiculous as it’s the Good, the Bad and the Ugly overseeing the Bad and the Ugly, often with no results or full disclosures to the public because they feel they don’t have to inform us.
We are looking forward to your response and we welcome responses from all credit card holders that are experiencing the same problems.
