Arcadia, California sprout distributor tests positive for salmonella bacteria.
Los Angeles, CA(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Los Angeles Calco Inc., brand of Alfalfa sprouts issued a voluntary food product recall in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov. The Arcadia, California based sprouts distributor, Los Angeles Calco, discovered their Alfalfa Sprouts tested positive for Samonella bacteria during routine food testing.
The food distributor has not received any reports of illness or injury. Consumers who bought Los Angeles Calco Alfalfa Sprouts are urged to stop eating them immediately. Salmonella bacteria can cause food poisoning resulting in serious illness and injury including fatal infections in consumers. Sprouts sold three separate food retailers with sell by dates of April 23, 2009 through May 2, 2009, have been recalled.
