About the Book (Info):
Radiation covers the earth, infiltrates the sea and sky, and burns across a red horizon. After the mass extinction of animals, only one species survives. The wolves prosper in a plagued, dying world. The moon is their sun, and darkness – a friend. And they’re not afraid of man. A young girl with no memory searches for answers – for herself and for others. She plunges into a terrible nightmare – the truth about the evil men do, their destruction, and pain. In her quest for self-discovery, she’s guided by a wolf and other unlikely friends. But in her darkness, life exists; in dreams, murder and death. As her life comes together like a puzzle, a vague reality unfolds where surreal events entertain an uncertain doom or a brightened future.
Survival is a state of mind, for the wolf that dwells deep inside.
Excerpt:
Horses? The word sent a chill though her body. The horse had long ago disappeared when all the open land was eaten away by development and industrialized growth. There were no more farms, or fields or harvests.
Land cost too much to keep green pastures for grazing livestock. The few animals that had remained on small pockets of open land perished as the radiation levels increased. The insects, birds, and small wildlife died first, but as the ozone deteriorated, the food chain broke, natural balance disappeared, and extinction followed. How strong was the magic of this place if horses survived here? What was beneath the frozen terrain?
Trees did not thrive outside of this place, only petrified examples of what once was. She supposed the mystery of the forest was that it existed here.
