Chino Valley crash involves 2 pickup trucks and 2 school buses.

Phoenix, AZ(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A 4-vehicle collision injured at least 12 people, on Tuesday afternoon, around 4:00 p.m. The Chino Valley Review reports the motor vehicle collision (MVC) involved two school buses and two pickup trucks. Chino Valley, Arizona police officials say the truck wreck took place on Highway 89 at Road 4 North, just north of Phoenix. Yavapai County police authorities believe a blue pickup truck was slowing down and preparing to turn left. A second pickup truck slowed down after the driver noticed the blue pickup decelerating. The first school bus, Bus No. 17, slowed down when the second pickup seemed to be coming to a stop. The second school bus, Bus No. 5, did not notice the first three vehicles stopping, and hit Bus No. 17. This created a chain reaction with each vehicle ramming the one before it. Arizona roadway accident investigators say a third bus behind Bus No. 5 avoided the MVC by veering out of the lane of traffic and stopping on the side of the road.

Yavapai County school officials estimate about 40 students were passengers on each of the Heritage Middle School buses. A bus driver and a student were extricated from the bus by Chino Valley area fire rescue crews. Yavapai emergency medical services (EMS) personnel transported ten students to Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC). A woman, the driver of one of the pickup trucks, was also transported to YRMC. The female bus driver was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center where she was treated by doctors and nurses for her major injuries. A number of other students were taken to local Chino Valley area hospitals by their parents for treatment.
