Pastor T.D. Jakes’ house seriously damaged after natural gas explosion.

Dallas, TX (JusticeNewsFlash.com)—A natural gas explosion destroyed an enclosed sunroom at one of Pastor T.D. Jakes’ homes on Sunday morning, as reported by KRLD. The gas explosion occurred around 6 a.m. at the T.D. Jakes’ residence, located in the 8400 block of Meadowbrook Drive. Fort Worth fire officials are investigating the possible cause of the explosion, which experts speculate originated from a natural gas line servicing a swimming pool heater and a grill located in the sunroom. Firefighters report there was no fire as a result of the explosion. No one was injured from the blast, although there were people inside the home at the time of the natural gas disaster. A Forth Worth area energy company ran tests and checked meters around the home and property after the explosion, but no gas leaks were found at the time.

Millions of homes across America use natural gas as an energy source for cooking, heating, and water heating. Many people do not understand that Methane, a main component of natural gas, is very dangerous to your health, and runs the risk of fire and explosions when a leak is not detected quickly. Methane is a highly flammable chemical that can be characterized to have a “rotten egg” smell, and exposure to high levels of Methane will cause asphyxia or even death. The National Institute of Health (NIH) www.NIH.gov/ offers some helpful tips for actions you should take if your gas detector alerts you or your family of a natural gas leak.

1. Leave the house immediately.

2. DO NOT make calls from your home. Phones are capable of producing a spark, which could start a fire or explosion. Contact your local gas utility company or call 911 from a phone outside and away from your home.

3. DO NOT light a match or other combustible material. Likewise, DO NOT turn any light switches on or off, and DO NOT plug or unplug electrical appliances such as a television or vacuum cleaner. These activities also can produce a spark that could start a fire or explosion.

Do not re-enter the house until the gas company finds the source of the leak and corrects it.

Natural gas explosions typically cause serious damages to structures and properties. When people are present at the time a gas leak or resulting explosive disaster serious injuries and even death can occur. Contacting a Dallas personal injury lawyer may help you and your family recover.
