Suffolk County car crash kills father carrying son to safety on LIE.

New York, NY(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A man involved in a one-car crash exited his vehicle on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) in Holtsville and was hit by a passing minivan while he carried his two-year-old son. The tragically fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 16, as reported by Newsday. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) reported the driver Robert Dorsa, 27, was driving east near exit 62 on the LIE when his Ford Focus struck the center divider. He lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the HOV lane. Dorsa exited his car and then tried to cross the LIE, with his 2-year-old son. He was suddenly and fatally hit by a minivan.

According to New York’s WPIX-TV, Dorsa’s son was thrown from his arms, on impact, and the child landed approximately 40-50 feet away. Luckily the toddler landed on a bush, preventing him from sustaining any serious injury. The father was killed when he was struck by the minivan. His son, 2 year-old, Braydon was quickly transported by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to Stonybrook University Medical Center in Stonybrook, New York, for treatment of his injuries by doctors and nurses. The child was reportedly released from the hospital on Wednesday in “good condition”.

The 62-year-old minivan driver was also taken to the hospital for car crash injuries. The minivan driver was not charged in the fatal automobile accident. The Long Island Expressway was apparently closed until 5 a.m. so Suffolk County highway accident investigators could inspect the scene. New York’s WPIX-TX also reported, according to sources, the infant’s mother had no prior knowledge her son was taken by Dorsa. Apparently the Ford Focus involved in the initial crash, was allegedly stolen from the boy’s mother.
