Indiana Greyhound bus versus SUV accident kills one injures 11.

Indianapolis, IN(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A Greyhound bus and an SUV, involved in a fiery head-on collision, in Indiana, resulted in one death and 11 injured around 11:30 a.m., on Sunday June 21, 2009. The greyhound bus was transporting the Ontario based London Silverbacks, a Canadian semi-pro football team. The immediate family of Chris Smith, PGA Tour golf player, occupied the SUV. According to CBC news, one of the SUV’s tires blew, causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle. This sent the southbound SUV crashing directly into the northbound bus after it uncontrollably crossed the center median. The fatal motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred on Interstate 69, close to Angola, Indiana.

The Canadian Press reported that within minutes of the initial crash, a division of the United States National Guard came to help with the traumatic situation, since they were training in the same general area. Emergency medical services (EMS) crews transported the 11 injured bus passengers to the Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola. The London Silverbacks team owner, Alan Lazar was reportedly airlifted to a hospital in Fort Wayne where he is being treated for his critical bus crash injuries. The SUV that was completely engulfed in flames claimed one victim who is suspected to be Beth Smith, wife of Chris Smith, as reported by Fort Wayne’s Journal Gazette. Smith’s kids including Abigail, 16 and Cameron, 2, were flown to Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital where they are supposedly in critical condition. Abigail allegedly sustained injuries such as a broken pelvis along with cuts and burns and Cameron’s SUV accident injuries include a broken arm and leg, internal abdominal injuries, and burns. The remaining 27 uninjured bus passengers were transported to a local church where they could rest while waiting for the replacement bus.
